Hello, welcome to Tuned In with Abby!

Having logged over 75,000 minutes on Spotify in 2023, I am a music junkie and devoted
Airbuds user. I spend all my money on concerts and a day is not complete without a music-video-watching session.

Some of my favorite artists include Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, BTS, The 1975, Kali Uchis, Fleetwood Mac, Beyoncé, Jungkook, Hozier, Declan McKenna,  Bruno Mars and many, many more.

I also love movies and TV. I knew La La Land was my favorite movie when I enjoyed it, even from the very first row of the movie theater. One of my favorite activities is searching a something I just finished watching on TikTok or Twitter to gather the rest of the world's opinion.

I wanted to create a place to document my many pop culture opinions, both popular, and unpopular. I hope you enjoy Tuned In with Abby.

More About Me:

I am an incoming junior at the University of Maryland, studying for a bachelor’s in journalism at the
Philip Merrill College of Journalism. Here, I have gained a lot of valuable experience and knowledge from the best professors, some of whom are still active in the field. Some of my favorite experiences include getting to take a look behind the scenes at UMD’s famous Maryland Dairy with The Diamondback, practicing liveshots at Facetime with the Pros and learning more about videography.

I am also a Spanish minor. I have always enjoyed learning Spanish since high school and received the New Jersey State Seal of Biliteracy in 2021. As I continue to learn more about Spanish and the culture surrounding various Latinx countries, I am glad that the more fluent I become, the more people I am able to connect with.

I am involved with a few things on campus. I am a video reporter for
The Diamondback, the editor-in-chief/campus correspondent for Her Campus at Maryland and an anchor for WMUC News’ weekly pop culture round-up, Drop the Pop. Additionally, last semester I took on a special project for my College Park Media, Self and Society Scholars’ practicum. A few other students and I worked together to revive UNWIND, a Scholars magazine that went dormant over the pandemic. The pilot issue will be published in the Fall of 2024.

Resume or my Other Work.

In the future, I hope to combine my interests of pop culture and video to produce multimedia entertainment journalism. My dream would be to attend events like The Grammys or Oscars. I am also interested in long form documentaries. Outside of journalism, a wild dream of mine would be to edit music videos.
